Every piece rolls its own "set roll"; a bonus uses the average of the pieces you wear. Flat stats grow with the set's item level (54–56 here).
The Shadow pair mix sets, keep the taste
Shadow Wear pieces from two different Shadow sets (one piece of each is enough) and your Dooms are 10% stronger.
It counts once however many Shadow sets you mix, and steps aside if a set you wear already gives its own 2-piece bonus.

Set pieces never come from random drops or shops, only from their theme's own sources. The zone boss and promoted foes (Champions and Elites) carry the whole set.
